Hubby at Home

Well, what a few weeks this has been. My hubby has just been made redundant - this was a real shock for us and we're only just getting our heads around it. Anyway he's been at home this past few weeks which has been nice but....

he's decided to put in central heating and all the floors have been lifted today. This wouldn't usually be such a problem but today I had 3 large monogrammed bolster cushions to make and post! I was working in the house as my workshop is an absolute nightmare at the minute. We seemed to be in each others way the whole day!!

Anyway I finally got the cushions posted but when I got back from th post office disaster had struck. Holly, my youngest had pulled an oak cupboard down on top of herself. The girls had been clearing out their cupboards and drawers and there was only a couple of items in this now. She had gone in to get a jumper and when the doors were opened the whole top of the cupboard fell on top of her. Hayden was under the floor and was in such a state because he had heard the noise and her scream. She was in shock for a while but seems ok now apart from a black eye. It just makes you realize how easily things can happen.

Well I'm off now for a night of sewing.

talk soon.

new blog

Well, so much for me starting my new blog!! This week has just flew by and I haven't got into the swing of blogging every day - I suppose it takes a bit of getting used to.

I've been helping out at my friends shop Bearing Gifts while they have been on a buying trip to Germany. This has been fun as we used to have the shop before them - what memories!

In between this I've been trying to add things to my new website www.thepumpkinpatch.co.uk
and of course get all the orders sent out. I got a card order on Wednesday for valentine cards so they needed sent on Thursday. All my cards are made to order so the plan was to make them on Wednesday night - no chance. I spent the night at the hospital with Lauren until 11.30 seeing various nurses and doctor etc. They thought she had dislocated her pinky finger but couldn't understand why she wasn't screaming the place down. Eventually they took an xray and decided that it was just her tendons she had damaged and she got a splint on to straighten it. As we came out of the hospital it started to snow, it was beautiful - so peaceful and quiet but then I was worried about getting home. As it turned out it was fine and lauren was pleased because when we left to go down to the hospital there wasn't a drop of snow in sight and when we came back everything was covered.

The cards did eventually get made and posted yesterday as promised so the customer should receive them today.

Anyways, best go and get ready as today is my last day at the shop. It's pretty good as I can take my own work with me to do - I think today will be spent adding more things to the website and compiling a decent database of my wholesale customers so that I can start sending newsletters about the new website and try and get some more orders in.

Have a lovely day.

Welcome to my little blog.

I've been thinking about starting a blog now for some time but it wasn't until I read Karon's blog over at Dream Country Chat that I thought - stop faffing about and just do it!!

I've got my own business making and selling country style items, which range from items made from antique French linens and vintage quilts to wreaths and swags made from natural botanics.

We also have a little barn which we have bought in France. This is truly a little gem in heaven - or it will be if we ever get it finished. Come to think of it started would be good!! Anyway, I thought I would use the blog to tell of my daily goings on, both with the business and our little french dream.

Please do stop by and say hello - I'd love to hear from you all out there.
